Kenny is a patient any dentist would want. He takes suggestions and follows instructions from his dentist. Good oral health is important to Kenny, and his goal is to have all straight, white teeth. However, he brushes his teeth with such vigor that a portion of his gums pulled away from his crowns, leaving black areas showing at his gum line. And, despite his enthusiasm, Kenny, like so many others, is afraid of visiting the dentist. He fears drills, and especially shots, particularly inside his mouth.
Initially we recommended that he try Brite Smile Teeth Whitening, a one-hour tooth-whitening process that brightens teeth for years. Kenny tried this, but due to his sensitivity, he could not complete procedure. This left us with two options.
First, Kenny could try conventional porcelain veneers. The drawback to this procedure is that it would require the reduction of the thickness of each affected tooth to allow the veneers to fit over them. This process, however, would require using a drill to grind his teeth, along with multiple shots of anesthesia.
The second option was to use Lumineers, which are ultra-thin veneers that cover the surface of teeth but do not require either drilling or shots, and which bond well over the existing crowns. Because of his aversion to drills and shots, Kenny elected to use the Lumineers. This was the solution we all were looking for. The Lumineers covered the ugly dark areas at his gum line, and Kenny had the entire procedure done in two visits with no shots or drilling.
Kenny is grateful for his new smile, the perfect smile he always wanted, and we are gratefdul we have another happy patient!
